Monday girls soccer roundup: Bajt gets three targets, two assists as Spring Lake blanks GR West Catholic 5-0

Meah Bajt had three goals and two assists when the Spring Lake girls’ soccer team beat Grand Rapids West Catholic 5-0 in an OK Blue conference matchup on Monday.

Ella Andree and Emily Anderson each added a goal for the Lakers. Ryann Gilchirst had two templates and Eryn Bouwhuis had one.

Freshman goalkeeper Jessica Stewart got the shutout for Spring Lake.

The Lakers are now 3-1-1 in the season.

MONA SHORES 8, SAULT STE. MARIE 0 – Riley Rosenthal scored three goals while Annie Anderson scored two goals in the Sailors’ easy win at the Traverse City Central Invitational on Saturday.

Jenna Baker, Payton Silk and Kennedy McCombs added a goal to the Sailors. Lauren Davis, Bri Wade, Sophia Fisher, Molly Wolf, Silk and Anderson had support.

The Sailors played a 0-0 draw in the other game with the state power DeWitt. Ella Buikema got the goal for Mona Shores, who is now 7-1-1 of the season.

GRAND HAVEN 1, FOREST HILLS EASTERN 1 – Grand Haven trailed 1-0 at halftime but Carley Wagaski saved the Bucs the day by scoring a late goal.

Grand Haven is now 3-2-2 overall and 3-1-1 in conference play.

FREMONT 4, KENT CITY 2 – Alaina Wachter scored three goals as the Packers battled for the conference win on Monday.

Wachter scored the first of their goals in the 18th minute before Kent City scored twice and took a 2-1 lead.

The Packers had a goal from Trinity Freriks to end the game 2-2 at halftime. Wachter scored two penalties in the second half to secure the win for Fremont.

Kent City beat Fremont at 20:15, but the Packer goalkeepers rose sharply with 18 saves.

Fremont is now 2-5 overall and 2-1 in conference play, while Kent City is 1-3 overall and 0-2 in conference.

NEWAYGO 1, MONDAY 0 – The Wildcats couldn’t find the target in narrow defeat. Janae Koetje played a strong game ini goal for Montague, which Newaygo overtook in the game.
