Milder afternoon with some rain

DETROIT – There will be no additional snow today, but there is a chance of rain. I guarantee it. This means February 2021 will be the 11th snowiest February in Detroit (climate reports are from the late 19th century).

Despite cloudy skies and the likelihood of rain, temperatures are rising far above freezing point today. Today, however, there will be no leaching. Tomorrow and Tuesday, drier but colder weather returns. Mild weather is coming back from Wednesday to Friday.

Temperatures rise quickly above freezing just before precipitation. The sky will be cloudy, although light rain is possible until noon.

Remember that the ice around ponds and lakes, as well as rivers and streams, is getting thinner and thinner. It is best to stay on land. Please don’t dare to go on ice. Also, remember to be vigilant and keep children and pets away from ice-covered water.

Much more melting occurs on Sunday afternoon. Highs will be in the low 50s, despite cloudy skies and the remaining possibility of occasional rain showers. Shortly before sunset it gets drier.
