MIB advances to Class A semifinals, Grand Rapids falls in state quarters

Mountain Iron-Buhl (MIB), who has traveled to the state for the tenth time in eleven seasons, knocked down Cass Lake-Bena 50-49 at Pequot Lakes. Hali Savela scored 18 points for the Rangers.

The MIB will face Minneota in the semi-finals on April 6th at 12 noon.

In the AAA class, Grand Rapids fell to the Academy of Holy Angels 93-69.

Taryn Hamling led the Thunderhawks with 23 points, while Jessika Lofstrom contributed 21 points. They finish their season 18-4.

“They made adjustments, they did what they had to do and they just didn’t give up and that was the best I’ve seen of them,” said Grand Rapids head coach Kristine Hamling. “You know, it’s a good indication of what we have in the future.”
