Man arrested for shining laser at state police helicopter in Detroit
DETROIT (FOX 2) – A 34-year-old Detroit man was arrested Wednesday for aiming a laser on a Michigan State Police helicopter.
During a Trooper 2 patrol flight, the suspect began aiming a laser at the pilot, which was camera taped from an apartment near Fenton and Grand River.
“This guy is firing us at the moment, so if you can’t see him, he hit us four or five times,” says the officer from the helicopter on video and leads a ground unit to the scene. “He still does.”
Trooper Two was able to locate the location and the detectives from the MSP Special Investigation Section were able to obtain an arrest warrant for the residence. The suspect was arrested for aiming energy from a directional energy device at an aircraft and the laser was recovered.
