Local Meals: Ann Arbor’s Sottini’s Sub Shop revealed during COVID. three new sandwiches

ANN ARBOR, MI – Sottini’s Sub Shop in Ann Arbor has added three new sandwiches to its menu amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sottini’s, 205 S. 4th Ave., has been owned by Raed Farha since 1989 and sells a variety of submarines from regular subs, Italian submarines, and specialty submarines, said Raed’s son Nash Farha.

Sottini released its new sandwiches – the Chipotle Steak, Chipotle Chicken, and Chicken Philly – a few months after the March 2020 pandemic outbreak, Nash said.

“These were extremely popular, especially the chipotle steak,” he said.

Sottini’s also offers french fries, macaroni and potato salad and soup in the winter, Nash said.

The pandemic hit the restaurant hard and closed it from March to May 2020, Nash said. When it reopened, Sottini’s staff were scarce, did not qualify for scholarships and struggled to pay rent, he said.

“We have cut our working hours for personnel reasons. Recruiting has been a big problem, so we’re all here as brothers and sisters, “said Nash.

With the restrictions further lifted, Nash Farha hopes it will work as usual again.

Michigan will end the COVID-19 mask mandate and capacity limits early

“Maybe in the fall, when football comes back and the students come back, they said everyone would be at full capacity, so we’ll be back during our regular business hours,” said Nash.

Sottini’s, 205 S. 4th Ave., used to be open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., but is currently open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Please visit https://sottinissubs.com/ for more information. Call 734-769-7827.
