Lane reductions on East Huron Street go into effect Monday

ANN ARBOR, me. Starting Monday, 7am, traffic on East Huron Street between Glen Avenue and Zina Pitcher Place will be reduced to one lane in each direction while contractors work on water pipes.

Traffic is switched three times during work. Initially, a contractor will occupy the middle two lanes of East Huron. According to an announcement from the city of Ann Arbor, one lane will be open in both directions.

During the second phase of the water supply pipeline project, traffic will be relocated to the west side of the road as a contractor is working on the two east-facing lanes. In the third phase, traffic will be shifted to the east side of the road while a contractor works in the westward lanes. During these traffic shifts one lane is open for both directions.

Emergency vehicles should use alternate routes, but pedestrian traffic will be maintained on the north side of East Huron Street. There is a detour along Fletcher Street to North University Avenue to Washtenaw Avenue.
