Ingham County Sheriff Scott Wriggelsworth will increase participation in the Lansing Police Department’s violent crime initiative

LANSING, Michigan (WILX) – On Thursday, Ingham County Sheriff Scott Wriggelsworth announced that he would increase involvement and collaboration with the Lansing Police Department’s Violent Crime Initiative (VCI). This comes after gun violence rises in the Lansing area.

ICSO has a detective who deals approximately 50% of the work week specifically with Lansing Police VCI. Ingham County will also assign a unified patrol delegate to work with the team from time to time and as needed.

“Partnerships like this create a shared vision that includes reducing crime and increasing the public’s awareness of law enforcement. I would like to thank Sheriff Wriggelsworth and his staff for their support in these ongoing efforts to contain the violence not only in Lansing but in Ingham County as a whole. ”Lansing Interim Police Chief, Sosebee

The cooperation between the two departments will be strained throughout the summer and the resources for the engagement will adjust accordingly.
