Head-on collision on U.S. 31 sends two adults, two children to hospital | Local News

INTERLOCHEN – In a head-on collision on US 31 west of Interlochen, two adults and two children were taken to the hospital and the traffic was diverted for hours.

Grand Traverse County Sheriff officials said the two-vehicle accident happened around 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday near the intersection of the freeway and Betsie River Road in Green Lake Township. Rescue workers took the drivers of both vehicles to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City with life-threatening injuries.

A Liberty Jeep headed west and driven by a 21-year-old Beulah woman collided with an SUV headed east by a 43-year-old Interlochen woman.

The emergency services also took two child passengers in an off-road vehicle east to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids to treat serious injuries.

Sheriff officials said the crash was being investigated further.
