Grand Rapids to consider future of sidewalk drinking zones, planning public hearing

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Grand Rapids elected leaders will decide next month whether to continue, change, or discontinue drinking zones on sidewalks in downtown and other areas of the city.

But before they do, Grand Rapids city commissioners are tentatively planning to hold a public hearing for residents at their December 7th meeting to provide feedback on the drinking zones, called social districts. The meeting starts at 7 p.m.
