Grand Rapids offers several options for Spring Break “staycations”

If you’re unsure where to start your Grand Rapids stay, Experience GR offers a Culture Pass that will take you to different locations.

GRAND RAPIDS, me. – Experience GR wants to make sure you have a fun spring break even when you are not planning on traveling.

“We’d love to have the locals support the area’s shops, attractions, and restaurants while you’re out and about, and really keep that dollar local,” said Kate Lieto, director of marketing at Experience GR.

If you’re unsure where to start your Grand Rapids stay, Experience GR offers a Culture Pass that will take you to different locations.

“The Culture Pass GR is a three-day entry pass that was originally designed for tourists arriving on a long weekend, but locals see the benefit of it too,” says Lieto.

The pass is good for several locations, including the Grand Rapids Public Museum and the John Ball Zoo. If you use the pass to visit the zoo, you can see the newest traveling exhibit, Bricklive Supersized, which will be here for the season only.

“These are toy brick sculptures that actually come to us from the UK,” says Darci David, Marketing Manager for John Ball Zoo. “We’re the first site in North America to have this location, so we’re very excited.”

The zoo has numerous COVID safety practices, including limiting the number of people in buildings at the same time.

“We have people at the door, education staff, who are fun while you wait,” says David. “They talk about the animals that you will see and experience while you are there.”

You will be asked to pre-book your tickets online as attendance is limited each day.

Whichever way you choose to spend your stay, the local business will appreciate it.

“It’s a great way to help the local businesses that have had a really tough time with COVID and have been closed for a while,” says Lieto.
