Grand Rapids: 80 companies join ‘River For All’ program

GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan (WOOD) – A Grand Rapids program has created 80 companies in 34 industries for river restoration projects, the city said.

The “River For All Micro-Local Business Enterprise” program was first launched in July 2020. The city’s goal is to create a “fairer pool of businesses” to win contracts to restore the Grand River.

Many of the 80 companies currently participating in the program are owned by black people and women, and span industries such as construction, landscaping and tourism.

“It was exciting to see this important program grow over the past nine months,” said Alvin Hills IV, the city’s business developer, in a press release Tuesday. “In addition to having access to quotes for river restoration projects, these companies can view and bid city-led projects across Grand Rapids.”
