Grand Marais, MN- The public is invited to celebrate the completion of roadwork on Highway 61. On Thursday, September 15 at noon there will be a program at Grand Marais Public Library Lawn. The Highway 61 project has earned two awards, including the Quality of Life Award and honorable mention for Cole Value Awards from the International Association for Public Participation. With the first honor, the project is also up for a national people’s choice award. To vote for the project, click here.

Grand Rapids, MN- The local food shelf is in need of volunteers. Second Harvest Food Shelf is in need of more volunteers during their Monday through Thursday shifts. From 8 am to 11 am and 11 am to 3:30 pm They are also in need of groups to help with projects such as produce bagging and packing kid and family bags. Groups, families and individuals are invited to volunteer.

Red Cliff- The Red Cliff tribe is celebrating Cultural Days Saturday, Sept. 16 through Sunday, Sept. 18. The 6th annual event will feature a two-day pow wow, canoe races, car show and more. The golf tournament will raise money for the Red Cliff Kids Holiday gift giveaway this winter. There will also be cultural stations running all day every day for people to learn more about the Ojibwe culture. All events are open to the public and admission is $10.
