Gov. Whitmer blasts criticism over visiting sick father in Florida; Detroit police officer expected to be OK after being shot, officials say

DETROIT – Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer responds to criticism of a trip to Florida where she visited her elderly father.

In an interview with the Washington Post on Monday, Whitmer described the criticism as insane.

It did so immediately after the Republicans blew up the trip because of the governor’s constant warnings about travel outside the state.

A jury found former officer Derek Chauvin guilty of the murder of George Floyd.


Chauvin has been charged with accidental second degree murder, third degree murder, and second degree manslaughter. He was found guilty in all three cases.
