Frosty Friday start with warmer weekend on tap
We had our first sub-freezing temperatures of the season earlier this week in Detroit, and this Friday morning is the first time we wake up in sub-30s. Early risers will see or feel temperatures in their upper 20s near Metro Detroit this Friday morning and thankfully there is very little wind. The clear skies, cooler temperatures, and lack of wind can all help create some wisps of fog, but for most of us on the go, this is unlikely to be a problem. Just make sure you’re ready for this chill with the winter arsenal for anyone who spends time outdoors.
Sunrise is at 8:12 am
So it’s a cold start, but that clear sky that leads to cold temperatures early will stay mostly clear or mostly sunny for your Friday and temperatures will react. The highs around Metro Detroit today will be in the 50 degrees range with light SSW 5-10mph winds and some spots will go into the lower 50s which is about five degrees warmer than what we saw yesterday. The sky stays mostly sunny and then mostly clear tonight, which means the temperatures cool quickly if you’re out to a high school football game or Friday night … those thicker coats aren’t a bad idea.
Sunset is at 6:22 pm
We will see mostly clear skies overnight and another clear morning with Saturday temperatures starting in our upper 20’s to lower 30’s. You can expect a nice balance of sun and clouds and highs in the lower and mid 50s on a beautiful Saturday across SE Lower Michigan and Southern Ontario. If you drive to the U of M game in Ann Arbor on Saturday night, plan for temperatures to go back to the 40s but dry and reasonably comfortable for a game in early November. Don’t forget about daylight saving time either. It’s time to go back an hour from Saturday to Sunday with the clocks.
Sunday brings more sunshine and clouds without rain or snow and the maximum values are closer to 60 degrees.
In fact, on Monday, Tuesday, and maybe again next Thursday, Veteran’s Day, we’ll be close to 60 degrees.
There is a cool front that moves late Tuesday and brings a chill chance until late afternoon or evening, but it’s a weak front and won’t bring in much moisture or bitterly cold air.
There’s a decent chance of rain from late Wednesday through early Thursday of the next week.
