  • Traverse City’s Kiwanis Club recognized Mackenzie Womack in the week of October 26th. Womack is a senior at Traverse City West Senior High School attending Northwest Education Engineering Academy.

She is a member of the National Honor Society, the National Technical Honor Society, FIRST Robotics, Titan Robotics (Captain), TCAPS Global Service Trip and VESC Robotics. She has been participating in the Titan Robotics Club since her first year. She received a university letter in robotics and academics and was nominated for the dean’s list. Womack has a GPA of 4.0 and plans to study Aerospace Engineering with a minor in Spanish at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her goal is to run her own space research company. She would also like to study abroad in Madrid, Spain, or Buenos Aires, Argentina.

  • These students recently graduated from West Shore Community College’s local Corrections Academy:

Eric Roberts, of Grand Traverse County; Robert Sauder of Wexford County; Skylar Miller of Wexford County; Jennifer Galloup of Wexford County; Joshua Miller, of Grand Traverse County; and Nicholas Salter from Benzie County.

  • The Kiwanis Club of Traverse City recognized the following Traverse City West Senior High School graduates for the week of November 3rd:

Patrick Guiney is a member of the Student Senate, Math Club and Chess Club (co-founder). He played university soccer (state runner-up in 2019) and university basketball. He received a college letter and an AP Scholar with Honor Award. He holds a GPA of 3.93 and plans to study engineering in college.

Audrey Michael is a member of the Downtown Development Authority (first elected student member), National Honor Society (MP), Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation Youth Council, Choir Council (Co-Chair), Leadership Committee Class of 2022, Spanish National Honor Society, and Norte Explore Academy. She has participated in choir, advanced theater, four musicals, the Northern Michigan Association of Western Horse Clubs, the Parallel 45 Theater Youthquake Company, and the Old Town Playhouse Young Company. She went on a worldwide business trip to Guanajuato, Mexico and was one of the five finalists of the Academic WorldQuest. Her honors include an Academic Award (four years), National Honor Society High School Scholars, Resilience Award, Semi-Finalist in National CS Music Competition, Top 10 in Hal Leonard National Vocal Competition, Grand Traverse Musicale Karen Mitchel Memorial Award, Top 10 Finalist in the competition of the Verdi Opera Theater of Michigan and the Michigan Thespian Excellence Award. Michael was a selected singer for Franc D’Ambrosio’s master class at the City Opera House in Traverse City. She has a GPA of 4.0 and hopes to study Drama, Singing, and Humanities / Business / Politics at Northwestern University, Yale University, or the University of Michigan.
