Dragons drive Lansing away

The Dragons took a 1-0 lead in the second inning with a titanic home run from McGarry, which was immediately clocked at 108 mph. The homer was McGarry’s second in the series and fifth of the year. The Dragons added two more runs in their sixth game, marked by a run scoring triple from Mat Nelson in his first game with the club. Nelson, the NCAA’s national home run champion in Florida State this spring, had two hits and two RBI on his high A debut.

After Lansing scored 3-1 at the end of the sixth, the Dragons responded with an eighth inning of five runs to take a commanding 8-1 lead. Martinez had a two-run double in the inning and James Free added a two-run single. The Dragons added three more in the ninth round, led by another double run by Martinez. Quin Cotton, who had three goals in the game, added a double to run to put Dayton 11-1 ahead. Lansing scored third in the bottom third of ninth place to complete the ranking.
