Detroit Tigers place Miguel Cabrera (biceps) on injured list
The Detroit Tigers will miss their Hall of Fame bat in the next few games.
Eleven-time all-star Miguel Cabrera was put on the injured list on Sunday with a load on his left biceps. In a corresponding move, Renato Nunez, a first baseman / designated hitter who signed a minor league contract last winter, was added to the 40-man squad and will report to Detroit.
Julio Tehran, another off-season signing, was moved from the 10-day IL to the 60-day IL on Sunday.

Cabrera has a chance to dwarf 500 home runs and 3,000 hits this season, beating 2021 with one home run and three RBIs through seven games near the floor of the American League in runs, hits, walks and punches) .

Nunez, who destroyed 50 home races in over 263 games with the 2018-20 Baltimore Orioles, hit just .188 with a long ball in 33 record appearances in spring training. He didn’t get the team out of camp, but chose to stick with the organization instead of signing a minor league deal elsewhere.
Tehran lands on the list of longer injuries after suffering a late scratch on Friday after starting his second season. Tehran, a two-time all-star, was signed to a minor league deal after a fight (10.50 ERA from nine starts) in 2020.
Jonathan Schoop will start with Cleveland at 1:10 p.m. on Sunday for the Tigers game at 1:10 p.m. Nunez was registered as a DH.
