Detroit fire captain arrested after crashing department vehicle under influence of alcohol, sources say; Michigan expected to receive 82,700 doses of J&J vaccine this week

DETROIT – Early Monday morning, a Detroit fire chief’s SUV was found over the Lodge Freeway in Milwaukee and Baltimore.

The SUV was the head of Detroit Fire Department 5. A firefighter was taken into custody Monday. Sources said the captain drove under the influence.

The incident began at 2 a.m. on Monday morning when a call came in to Majestic and Livernois about a fire on the west side of Detroit.

The state of Michigan is expected to receive 82,700 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine from Johnson & Johnson (J&J) this week.

The J&J vaccine doses are expected in Michigan on Wednesday, a spokeswoman for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) said on Monday. These cans go to health departments and hospitals.
