Call of Lansing | The circular press

Editor’s Note: Editor’s Note: The Lansing Appeal contains a brief description of the bills that were put to the vote in the Michigan Senate and House of Representatives last week and how Lapeer County’s lawmakers voted on them.

Senate Act 82, 2021-2022 State budget: 35 to 0 passed in the Senate

• Failure to form the state budget for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2021. The bill provides $ 50.706 billion for all government spending excluding education, including $ 10.378 billion at the federal level Money, including unprecedented amounts Congress enacted as part of epidemic “stimulus” and relief laws.

When the government spending on education approved in House Bill 4400 is added (see below), the combined budgets envisage spending a total of $ 68.9 billion in fiscal year 2021-22, $ 10.4 billion more than the state ever before the pandemic. That includes $ 3.6 billion more government spending, up 10.4%, and $ 6.7 billion more government spending, up 28.4%.

Lawmakers didn’t use the total amount available for the year, leaving about $ 11 billion in federal grants and higher than expected government revenue collections that will be allocated later.
