Busy shops in Lansing on Small Business Saturdays

LANSING, Michigan – The holiday season has officially arrived and local businesses were busy as Lansing celebrated Small Business Saturday.

“We have a great day on Small Business Saturday, lots of customers coming in – some new, some of our loyal customers we’ve had for years. It was a great day, “said Ann Covert Fuller, co-owner of Country Stitches in East Lansing.

After a difficult year, companies were happy to open their doors and personally greet buyers.

“We love Small Business Day because it really shows how important it is for people to shop locally and shop with us,” said Fuller.

Summit Comics and Games in Downtown Lansing welcomed buyers to their new expanded area.

“We had Black Friday deals. Our owners have decided that we will keep this going through the weekend through Monday, “said Dustin Stevens, a Summit Comics and Games employee.

Stevens said that Summit has a wide variety of fun games, comics, and action figures.

“We have tons of board games, we have a lot of collectibles, I just put a whole bunch of new comics in our trash cans and we’re ready to come,” said Stevens.

Fuller said it was great to see people shop locally because it encourages the whole community.

“Small business day is only one day in the year that really reminds us to shop locally because that money goes to our community. You are helping our co-workers who actually live in our church … that day, “she said.

Lots of local businesses have deals over the weekend so it’s not too late to do some Christmas shopping and support the Lansing community.
