Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids among best places to retire

LANSING, Michigan (WLNS) – A US News Real Estate survey rated 150 cities to see if retirement needs and expectations could be met.

Two cities in the state of Mitten appeared on the list, Ann Arbor at number 9 and Grand Rapids at number 28.

According to US News, major criteria for the list include resident satisfaction, housing affordability, tax rates, and quality of health care.

Ann Arbor is best known as the home of the University of Michigan. It’s also near Detroit.

Aside from the university, school system, job market, public parking system, and low crime rate, Ann Arbor is an attractive place to live for locals of all ages.

Grand Rapids is known for its craft brewing scene. According to US News, Grand Rapids has moved from its 19th century roots.
