Ann Arbor Fire Department rescues overturned kayakers

ANN ARBOR, me. – Ann Arbor Fire Department urges community members to wear flotation devices after helping an upside-down kayaker on the Huron River.

At 7:20 p.m. on Thursday, staff responded to calls regarding the person stuck on Concordia College campus, the fire department said in a social media post.

Ann Arbor Police and Central Fire Dispatch found the kayaker’s exact location. With a water lifeboat, firefighters were able to help the person on land.

No injuries were reported.

“Please ALWAYS wear a personal flotation device when out on the Huron River,” the Ann Arbor Fire Department said on Facebook.
