Traverse City Area public schools (TCAPS) will resume face-to-face learning for all high schools and middle schools on Monday, with elementary schools continuing to teach face-to-face.
TCAPS board members voted at a special meeting on April 10 to extend distance learning for an additional week for middle and high school students, with the expectation to return to face-to-face learning on April 19, unless circumstances change significantly . According to a TCAPS press release on Friday, the Grand Traverse County Health Department reported that “COVID-19 case numbers and positivity rates in the county are lower than they were a week ago.”
Families are reminded to screen students at school every morning before they arrive. “If a student has even mild COVID-19 symptoms or pending COVID-19 test results, the student should stay home,” TCAPS said in its press release. “In addition, schools will continue to take mitigation measures, including wearing masks, frequent hand washing, cohorting and social distancing, to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and its impact on the school community.”
