Where to find free hot Thanksgiving meals near Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti

WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI – In November, warm meals and baskets for Thanksgiving will be offered to residents of various communities in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti.

Those looking for warm and ready-to-eat Thanksgiving dinners can find these meals in one of the following locations.

· Robert J. Delonis Center: 312 W Huron Street in Ann Arbor.

Take-away will be available outside the Delonis Center on Thursday, November 25th, from 12pm to 2pm. Ann Arbor Vineyard Church will work with the center this year to provide meals for low-income families and the homeless. In recent years, the church has offered meals, activities and games for people to participate in. Due to the ongoing pandemic, hot take-away meals are only offered outside the center between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.

Hope Clinic: 518 Harriet Street in Ypsilanti.

Takeaway Thanksgiving meals will be available on Thursday, November 25th from 5pm to 6pm. Ypsilanti’s Hope Clinic offers people in need warm meals every week. For the Thanksgiving Holidays, the Hope Clinic is offering a special take-away style dinner for those in need of a hot meal. These include turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and other fixings.

St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea Hospital: 512 Washington Street, Chelsea.

Mercy Chelsea Hospital will offer hot meals between 12pm and 1pm on Thursday, November 25th. Due to COVID-19, this year community members cannot congregate at the Chelsea Senior Center for those who cannot afford Thanksgiving food.

For those who can’t buy groceries for this year’s holidays but want to prepare a meal for their family, several organizations will be offering Thanksgiving baskets to residents of these listed locations.

· Church of the City of Hope in Berea: 1070 McCartney Avenue in Ypsilanti.

Berea City of Hope is presenting its free turkey competition to the community on Sunday, November 21, between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. The last day for registration is November 18th. Click here to register for a free turkey competition.

Hope Clinic: 518 Harriet Street in Ypsilanti.

Along with their warm Thanksgiving takeaway meals, Hope Clinic is offering a walk-up for a Thanksgiving basket from 10am to 12pm on November 24th. These baskets contain a turkey and holiday pages. Registration is not required, the event applies: first come, first served.

Allegiant Healthcare Services: 14500 N Sheldon Road, Plymouth.

Allegiant Services is hosting its second annual Thanksgiving dinner gift on Saturday, November 20, from 11am to 1pm. Each meal includes a turkey and additional side dishes that can be prepared at home for a family of four. Meals are delivered first, first served and limited to one meal per vehicle.
