The city of Ann Arbor is now offering free wood chips in these five locations

ANN ARBOR – It’s spring – even if it doesn’t feel like it right now – and that means the start of the outdoor project season.

The city of Ann Arbor’s public works division announced Thursday that it is giving away free wood chips to residents at five locations across the city while supplies last.

Wood chips are a versatile material for outdoor use, including mulch, path material, a base for playgrounds, chicken runs, and more.

The residents have to load the wood chips themselves and drag them away.

You can pick them up here:

  • Veterans Memorial Park, 2150 Jackson Ave.

  • Southeast Area Park, 2901 E. Ellsworth Road

  • Almendinger Park, 655 Pauline Boulevard

  • Furstenberg Park, 2626 Fuller Road

  • 721 N. Main St.
