Saline’s Sophie Canen named Ann Arbor Area Basketball Player of the Week (February 15-20)

ANN ARBOR – Sophie Canen has had a tear this season and her game is sure to be recognized.

The Junior Guard was named Basketball Player of the Week in the Ann Arbor area on Friday after a strong performance the week of February 15-20.

During Saline’s two wins last week, Canen averaged 17 points, 3.5 rebounds and two steals.

To take the honor home, Canen had to make a comeback when she narrowly beat Ann Arbor Pioneers Mya Hicks, who had a narrow lead on Thursday night.

In the end, Canen secured 17,407 votes out of a total of 35,692 to earn the honor, beating Hicks who collected 15,771 votes.
