New housing options coming for GVSU students in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS – GVSU offers new housing options for first-year students and calls it a game changer.

On Wednesday, the school announced that four new housing options will be available for first graders or transfer students in downtown Grand Rapids this fall.

“This community-based life experience enables students to explore academic opportunities together, learn from one another and potentially discover new academic avenues,” said President Mantella. “In the heart of downtown Grand Rapids, students have better access to internships, jobs and other networking opportunities.”

Kyle Boon, Director of Housing, provided more insight into the housing developments and where the inspiration for their 6 shared apartments came from.

“Students live on the same floor and take similar courses,” said Boone. “Living-learning communities in Grand Valley by nature directly connect academic and student experiences. Spontaneous study groups will take place and faculty members will be right there to answer questions. Students on the Pew Grand Rapids campus will have access to resources and services just like.” on the Allendale campus. “
