Metro Detroit climate: Heating up this week
Good monday morning! It looks good early here in Metro Detroit, with temperatures in the mid-1950s and partly to mostly cloudy skies. The roads are dry and we will keep it that way for the remainder of the morning which makes for a very mild start to the day and week.
Sunrise is at 6:10 am
Mostly cloudy skies in the morning become partly sunny and then partly cloudy when we go into the afternoon hours. With enough sun, the heights will reach well into the mid-70s, and why not a couple of random 80F days for some of our suburbs away from the great lakes on the east side. The winds are light, but they blow ESE to SSE 5-11mph from these lakes, keeping it a degree or three cooler in the far southeast of Lower Michigan.
The sunset is at 8:50 p.m.
We’ll get an early glimpse of summer this week, but we have a little rainmaker moving late tomorrow. As a result, most of Tuesday is partly cloudy and gets mostly cloudy in the late afternoon and mid-70s high or warmer with enough sun. The chance of rain is best on late Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, and during this period the area looks like fairly light rain.
Wednesday may start out wet but the afternoon sun is breaking through and the highs have a good shot at 80F. And we’re just getting started. Right now, most of the model data keeps us dry as we warm up Thursday and Friday, but that may change. The highs are hit on Thursday in the mid-80s unless the clouds win the afternoon. Friday is the mid 80’s and a shot at 90F is possible with enough afternoon sun. It’s all in the air, but you understand, we’ll see warmer and more humid air later this week, and the hot heights will depend on the cloud cover. Occasional showers must also be observed on both days when we warm up.
It stays steamy and warm, if not hot, all weekend and possibly until early next week. Look for highs of 85-90 ° F on both Saturday and Sunday depending on the cloud cover, and the chance of rain now looks better late Saturday through Sunday, but we’ll keep you updated.
