Lumberjacks work hard at Lansing CC Invite | Information, sports activities, jobs
LANSING – The cross-country team from the Alpena Community College got the mid-season going at the Lansing CC Invitational on Friday. Five of the seven lumberjack runners set the best times of the season during the unusually warm weather in Lansing.
“Overall, we had an excellent day,” said ACC trainer Mark Jacobs. “Today it was 80 degrees, something we haven’t seen for a long time; but we take this type of weather over rain and sleet every day of the week. This is the same course we run for Regionals so today was a good test for us. These guys keep pushing hard and lowering their times. That’s all I can ask for. “
In the 30-team meeting, including several four-year schools, John Siegert (Ludington) again led the Lumberjacks with a season best of 28:53. Siegert was followed by Teddy Peters (Onaway) 31:11, Musa Kabbah (Liberia, Africa) 31:43, Connor Bagnell (Memphis) 31:56, Duncan Ross (Rogers City) 34:38 and Natanael Macean (Petit-Goave , Haiti.)) 40:26.
“We have less than four weeks in the season and our boys know what we have to do,” said Jacobs. “This is a fantastic group to train with, they listen and are ready to do whatever it takes to keep improving.”
The Lumberjacks next travel to Muskegon on October 18 to end the regular season before returning to the Regionals in Lansing at the end of the month.
