Lucile Bondi obituary (1923-2021) – Lansing, IN

Lucile Amidei Bondi

April 18, 1923 – November 14, 2021

LANSING, IL – Lucile lived her life. From the day she was born until her last life, she lived on her own terms. She embodied a strong, powerful, independent woman even before society was ready. She danced to her own tune – and she really loved to dance.

Lucile Amidei Biondi of Lansing, IL, died in Munster, Indiana on November 14, 2021. She was 98 years old. Lucile was born on April 18, 1923 in Macon, Missouri, to immigrant parents Domenico and Domizia Amidei of Fiumalbo, Italy.

Growing up on a Missouri farm served her strong independence and unparalleled work ethic. Even by the time she turned 90, Lucile mowed her own lawn, repaired broken equipment, and cleaned her own gutters. Lucile’s determination and hard work carried over to the professional world. While working as a factory worker at Hammond Valve, Lucile produced more piecework on her machine than anyone else. Through that hard work, she bought her own house and raised her children, Gloria and Ray Biondi.

When she wasn’t working, Lucile loved to dance. No matter where she was, when music was playing, she followed the rhythm. Her favorite genres were the polka and Mexican band music. She has never lost her love for music and dance.

For Lucile, her family was her greatest passion. All of her life, Nana (as she was affectionately known by her grandchildren) has handmade ravioli, tortellinis and cakes for four generations at Biondi. Your family will forever cherish the wisdoms she passed on to them such as “don’t get old” and “cut your servings in half”.

Lucile leaves behind her daughter, Gloria Biondi, of Lansing, IL; Grandsons: Michelle (Neal) Bearman of Illinois, Sloan (Bill) Gubbe of Indiana, Elicia (Mike) Viola of Illinois, Rachael (Ronnie) Fain of Georgia, Raymond Biondi of Georgia, Kirk (Lindsay) Biondi of Georgia, Brittney Biondi of Georgia and Brent Biondi of Georgia; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Her parents Domenico and Domizia Amidei, ex-husband Walter Biondi and son Ray Biondi preceded her in death.

Friends are invited to join Lucile’s family for a celebration of life on Monday, November 22nd, 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd., Lansing, IL, with a memorial service at November 6th. to visit: 00 am.

Instead of flowers, Lucile would rather dance to a song in her honor and buy a bottle of rumchata to toast a life well lived. www.schroederlauer.com
