Jonesville ranks in the top 5 again in the new AP Prep Football Poll

Jonesville Comet

Rank: No. 4

Week 9 result: Beat former AP D8 # 2 Addison with a final score of 20-14

Change compared to last week: none

Analysis: The Jonesville Comets Varsity Football program had its last regular season game against the Addison Panthers. The Panthers entered this game as the No. 2 team in Division 8. The Big 8 – Cascades Crossover Championship game was a battle between two top 5 programs. Jonesville won that game and we predicted that in the new AP poll released after Week 9, this could bring the Comets to the top.

However, this would not be the case. While Addison’s defeat put them in 4th place on the Division 8 polls, Jonesville stayed in 4th place. Jonesville ended the year 9-0 and would rank just behind the undefeated Millington Cardinals. Millington defeated Ithaca and Beecher in the past two weeks. The only change from last week’s top four teams was that Lansing Catholic lost their last game of the season. The Cougars lost a top fight against Pewamo-Westphalia with a final score of 12-7. Lansing Catholics strong schedule and wins over teams like Waverly, Williamston and Portland could keep them from falling among the other undefeated teams. The No. 2 Constantine Falcons moved up to No. 1 overall in the last Prep Football poll.

For fans looking to judge the top matches of the coming weeks for Division 6, Regional Bracket the Comets features some of the best teams in the Division 6 AP rankings.

Jonesville plays in Region 3 of the Division 6 playoffs. In their District Bracket, Jonesville is ranked No. 7 Michigan Center (8-1) compared. If they win this game, they could face the No. 1 Constantine Falcons for a district championship. In the other District Bracket in the Comets area, the No. 8 Ida and the Honorable Clinton could play for a district championship. It could be the toughest region in all of Division 6 postseason football.

Other rankings:

The Reading Rangers did not conduct the final AP poll before the start of the playoffs. However, you are also in one of the toughest regions in all of Division 8 football. First, the Rangers must play in the first round of the playoffs against the number 1 of the Hudson Tigers. In the other district semifinals, Centerville was placed as the No. 8 team in the final rankings. Her opponent, the Addison Panthers, came into the team as No. 4. There will only be one top 10 team left from this bracket until the decision on the district championship. On the other side of the regional bracket, the No. 6 White Pigeon Prep Football Team emerge as District Champions.

It’s a tough road to the regional championship for the Rangers, and all three games (if the Rangers defeat Hudson and win a county title) could face their top 10 AP opponents.

Here’s the new AP Prep Football Poll as the playoffs begin soon.
