Books and Brewskis meet
TRAVERSE CITY – The Traverse Area District Library’s Book and Brewskis Club practically meets on March 19 at 7pm. This month’s selection is “I know why the cage bird sings” by Maya Angelou. Registration at tadl.org is required.
Annual donation results
TRAVERSE CITY – Michael’s Place raised $ 95,567 from its annual Restoring Hope Breakfast, held virtually in February. The fundraising goal was $ 95,000. The event was originally scheduled for October 2020 but was postponed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Learn more at MyMichaelsPlace.net.
Easter brunch
The ACME – Aerie Restaurant and Lounge offers Easter brunch from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 4th at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa. The menu includes ham and lamb carving stations, made-to-measure omelets, waffles, a dessert bar and other breakfast dishes. The cost is $ 32.95 for adults and $ 12.95 for children ages 5 to 12.
The take away meal includes ham and sauce, chicken, asparagus and carrots, potatoes, risotto, salad, rolls, and desserts. Order by April 1st for collection on April 4th. Reservations: 231-534-6800.
Craft show registration
ELK RAPIDS – Elk Rapids Chamber of Commerce invites people to register for the 2021 arts and crafts exhibitions. Calendar of events: May 29th, July 17th and September 4th. Early registration is due on April 1st. After that, the stand fees increase. Contact: [email protected]
Easter treats
EAST JORDAN – Members of the East Jordan Lions Club hand out treats at Sportsman’s Park on April 3rd at 10am. The Easter Bunny plans to take part. Treats are available while supplies last.
Spring brew available
ELK RAPIDS – Short’s Brewing Company plans to launch several beers this spring. New beers for April include Treefer Madness, an IPA made from pine, grapefruit, guava, and flower flavors; Ocho de Mayo, a citrus wheat beer; and Big Bird Blood, an IPA milkshake with vanilla, banana and coconut. In May there is Power of Love, a shandy with rosemary and raspberry. Sabrotage, an IPA made with citrus hops; and Nicie, an American pale wheat beer with citrus flavors, coriander and a little peppercorn. June brings Tiramisu Blonde, an ale made from cocoa and coffee, and Blackberry Galaxy, an IPA with pine and citrus flavors.
Scrapped Spring Beer Festival
LANSING – The Michigan Brewers Guild recently announced the cancellation of their Spring Beer Festival, which originally took place on May 8th at Turtle Creek Stadium. Guild members have canceled six events since spring 2020 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Donations for the pantry are accepted
COMSTOCK PARK – People can support Feeding America West Michigan through the Yoplait Lids program. Buy yogurt, then scan the receipt with proof of purchase.
Yoplait plans to donate 10 cents to the grocery bank for every lid submitted to yoplaitlids.com. The program ends on May 31st.
Benzie, Grand Traverse, Lake, Manistee, Mason, Missaukee, Osceola, and Wexford counties are among the residents who benefit from Feeding America West Michigan.
