Ecology Center celebrates 50 years in Ann Arbor

ANN ARBOR, MI – Ann Arbor Ecology Center is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a virtual memorial service on October 28th from 6pm to 7pm

At the event, US MP Rashida Tlaib, D-Detroit, Climate Justice Chairman Dr. Michael K. Dorsey and Joyce Bader perform. The virtual celebration also includes performances by dancer Anika Hunter, musician Chris Buhalis, and poet Jessica Care Moore.

Towards the end of the live event, an individual painting by the artist Sabrina Nelson will be given away.

The Ecology Center was founded in 1970 after student activists organized an environmental course at the University of Michigan. Since then, the ecology center has been developing creative solutions for environmental challenges that endanger humans and the earth.

Some of their actions include educating consumers on how to keep their families safe and healthy, getting businesses to use cleaner energy and offering healthy food and safer products, offering innovative services that promote healthier lifestyles, and the Working with local and state decision-makers in creating laws to protect communities and the environment.

The registry continues to be open to the public to celebrate the work of the Ecology Center over the past 50 years. To take part in the virtual celebration, register here for tickets or to make donations.
