David Whitteberry Obituary (2022) – Grand Rapids, MI
Grand Rapids- David Eugene Whitteberry, 86, passed away peacefully in his home on May 18th, 2022. He was born in Frankfort, IN, the son of Lawrence and Faye (Fetterhoff) Whitteberry and grew up on the farm with his sister, Irene (deceased), and 3 brothers, Paul (deceased), John, and James.
After graduating Suma Cum Laude from Olivet Nazarene College, he and his wife, Betty (Niccum) (deceased), dedicated their lives to serving as a Nazarene pastor in Dunkirk, Huntington, Middletown, Geneva, North Manchester, Van Buren, and Angola. He directed youth camps at Shiloh Park for four years and was a counselor for forty camps. On fifteen different occasions, he traveled to Mexico on work mission trips and also helped build five houses with Habitat for Humanity. He was known for his love for God and others, his servant’s heart, and spending countless hours visiting the sick or shut ins in his community. His corny jokes, ready smile, and tales of growing up on the farm will be remembered fondly, especially by his grandchildren. While his loss is deeply felt, he is now perfectly healed in Heaven because of salvation through Jesus Christ.
He is survived by sons; Steve (Diane) Whitteberry, and Bruce (Lynette) Whitteberry; five grandchildren; a step grandchild; ten great-grandchildren; two brothers; and several nieces and nephews.
