Crews fight two story garage fire in Salem Township

WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI – Firefighters from four counties responded to a garage fire in the Salem township, northeast of Ann Arbor, on Sunday, November 7th.

No injuries were reported.

The fire in the two-story unattached garage on the 6000 block of North Territorial Road in Salem Township was reported around 4 p.m.

The fire burned at 7 p.m. that same evening. According to the fire brigade, the cause of the fire is currently unknown.

Although the garage partially collapsed, some material was recovered. According to Gina Siepierski, a family member of the resident, the garage was used to restore cars.

“We pulled a few things [out]“Said Salem Fire Chief Jim Rachwal.

Fire departments were deployed from across the region: Ann Arbor Township, Northfield Township, City of Northville, Northville Township, City of Plymouth, Green Oak Township, Lyon Township, Pittsfield Township, Scio Township, Superior Township, Huron Valley Ambulance and Helping Area Response Teams , a volunteer organization that provides local food and support services.
