Cool but nice November start

DETROIT – Good Monday morning!

And welcome to November. It’s a mostly clear and cool start to the day, with temperatures plummeting into the lower and mid 30s in most of our Metro Detroit suburbs and just slightly warmer near downtown Detroit.

Winds are on the lighter side in the beginning, but wind chills are still a good three to five degrees cooler than air temperatures, so make sure you have the right stuff today. We will stay dry on Monday with wind and clouds that will increase later today.

Sunrise: 8:07 a.m.

The sun in the morning will be partly cloudy and later in the afternoon only partly sunny. High temperatures will hit the top 40s to nearly 50F, which is about five degrees below average, and that’s mainly due to the lack of sunshine in the mid and late afternoon. We should see some sun creeping through those milky clouds, but it will stay dry as the winds pick up W 6-16 with gusts at 24 mph. It’s going to be a chilly night tonight and we might even see some excitement fly … especially in our northern zone overnight.

Sunset: 6:26 pm

There isn’t much chance of rain or snow this week, but we can see some very light showers or splashes on Metro Detroit on Tuesday afternoon. There is a faint disturbance passing north of us that will try to spin some moisture into our area. We’re going to wake up to temperatures in our low and mid 30s and then warm up in our mid and high 40s – that’s it. And that annoying breeze will still be with us WSW 5-15, blowing up to 20 mph at times, which makes it feel pretty cool all day.

The sky will clear by Wednesday morning and we will see morning temperatures in our 20s to 30s around all of southeastern Lower Michigan and southern Ontario. We’ll see plenty of sunshine on Wednesday afternoon as the highs try to break through the 40s, which won’t be easy. In fact, we may not get back into the 50s until Friday and then cling to sunshine and low to mid 50s this coming weekend.

At least until Saturday. Computer model data suggests a few showers around Sunday afternoon and we’ll keep an eye on that as we get closer. The Local4Casters app is your absolute best weapon and tool for staying one step ahead of any weather in Pure Michigan and around the world. It’s free!
