Clear, cool Friday night with weekend rain looming

DETROIT – Welcome to Friday night, Motown.

The first night in October is just as beautiful as your first day. We have clear skies and pleasant conditions. Professional and budding astronomers will be amazed at the sight of Jupiter and Saturn in the southern sky without a telescope. Families can be inspired to get observation equipment from the attic or basement to see Neptune and Uranus in the southeastern sky after sunset.

We will have a starry night with temperatures in the 60s and upper 50s until midnight. Overnight lows will be in the 1940s and 50s. Depending on your comfort, we can sleep safely with the window open or make yourself comfortable with one or two blankets.

Sunrise is at 7:32 am

Some rain showers come on Saturday but there will be no washout. Many festivals and events that start in the morning should run smoothly. It gets cool in the morning and mild to warm in the afternoon. The clouds increase as the mercury rises to the upper 70s. Some rain showers set in in the late afternoon and Saturday evening. Grab your favorite green and white ponchos before heading to the Michigan State Football game against Western Kentucky in East Lansing. The kick-off is on Saturday at 7.30 p.m.

On Sunday it rains now and then and it gets cooler. Afternoon temperatures will be near 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

Monday is mostly cloudy with a few showers. Highs in the lower 70s.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday there will be a mixture of sun and clouds. On-and-off rain continues, but every day won’t be a washout. Highs in the lower 70s every day.
