Car crashes into Detroit home once more! Second car crash in one month

DETROIT, MI (WXYZ) – “I just heard a bang,” said Tiffany Marshall.

She knew immediately what was causing the loud bang.

“Now we’re starting again,” she adds. Another car was stuck in her apartment. Leaving bricks, glass, and bits of wood all over her porch and basement.

The first crash occurred on July 9th. A blue SUV crashed into their home, according to Detroit police. Three people in the car were taken to the hospital and another ran out.

At around 7:00 p.m. on July 30, a woman driving a silver SUV rammed her home again.

“I hope she is fine because she hasn’t moved,” Marshall said.

The police inform us that the driver has had a medical emergency and is expected to be okay.

“I was sitting right by the window,” said Carlean McPherson.

McClellan and Shoemaker

Mrs. McPherson witnessed both crashes. She said it was nothing new. She has lived in the neighborhood for over 60 years.

“We had three accidents right in this house,” said McPherson.

As with other areas of the city, she says speeding is a problem.

“We have a problem with the cars out here. Sometimes we can hardly sleep at night, ”she says.

The city of Detroit is currently working on this problem. Crews are installing 4,500 speed bumps in neighborhoods like this one.

On this interactive map, you can see that there will be one on Shoemaker that’s a couple of blocks from Marshall’s intersection.

Shoemaker and McClellan are both ineligible for speed bumps because they are main roads and not secondary roads in residential areas.

“Warehouse! We need camps to protect these residents. It is sad. There’s too much going on here, ”said Marshall.

Seven Action News reached out to the city on Marshall’s behalf to see if anything could be done.

A spokesman tells us that the engineers will look at this “T-junction” to evaluate a possible installation of guard rails.

“Chances are the whole foundation is messed up right now,” Marshall said.

Everyone she lives with is safe, but she thinks about her home.

“We want to move. It’s terrifying just to hear the car skrrr. I’m scared, ”said Marshall. “I’m so paranoid. I’m sitting in the kitchen as you please, slower, slower. ”
