Captains fight for opening setback at Lansing | Sports

The Captains fought for the record, only taking five hits in an 8-1 setback to open their season in Lansing on May 4th.

Lake County were 7-0 behind after four innings and never bounced back.

His lonely run came in the eighth. A wild pitch sent Austen Wade in third and Jose Tena in second, and Will Brennan landed in second to surprise Wade.

Bryan Lavastida and Brayan Rocchio each went 2-4 for the Captains, who were 6-0 with runners in goal and six on the base, and Brennan contributed a doubles.

Hunter Gaddis was marked in three innings for seven runs, four of which were earned.

Thomas Ponticello was a bright spot, tossing four innings of relief, scattering two hits and hitting five.

Lake County will face Lansing on May 5th at 7:05 pm as the teams continue their streak.
