Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Michigan Receives TC Optimist Grant
The TC Optimist Club donated nearly $ 20,000 to local youth groups.
Big Brothers Big Sisters from northwest Michigan was one of 20 recipients of the scholarship.
They were awarded $ 1,500.
They say this money will be used for background checking of their adult volunteers.
Development coordinator Kris Hoxie says this will cover 50% of those fees for one year.
Says Hoxie, “These reduced costs actually allow us to step up our volunteer recruiting efforts. So that we can actually begin to serve more children. “
Big Brothers Big Sisters from northwest Michigan say this scholarship will also allow them to focus their efforts on volunteer recruiting.
The Traverse City Optimist Club recently awarded $ 17,250 in grants to twenty local youth-oriented organizations. The following organizations received grants between $ 250 and $ 1,500:
