Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Michigan Receives TC Optimist Grant

The TC Optimist Club donated nearly $ 20,000 to local youth groups.

Big Brothers Big Sisters from northwest Michigan was one of 20 recipients of the scholarship.

They were awarded $ 1,500.

They say this money will be used for background checking of their adult volunteers.

Development coordinator Kris Hoxie says this will cover 50% of those fees for one year.

Says Hoxie, “These reduced costs actually allow us to step up our volunteer recruiting efforts. So that we can actually begin to serve more children. “
