Lansing firefighters honored for rescuing brothers trapped in Bertie County’s tornado rubble after Hurricane Isaias
Lansing (WTVD) – Hurricane Isaias severely damaged the east coast, including areas in North Carolina, in the summer of 2020.
The Department of North Carolina Veterans of Foreign Wars awarded life-saving awards to nine firefighters in Lansing on Monday.
First responders rescued two brothers after a tornado pierced Bertie County in August.
The brothers were trapped in their mobile home after gusts of a strong tornado turned it around several times.
Two people were killed when the EF-3 twister destroyed a neighborhood in Windsor.
