3 Rescued, 1 Missing After Boat Capsizes in Lake Michigan Near East Chicago – NBC Chicago
One person was reported missing and three others were rescued after a boat capsized Saturday afternoon in Lake Michigan near East Chicago, Indiana, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
First responders were initially called into the port of Indiana at around 3:27 p.m. According to the authorities, one person was rescued by a Good Samaritan while two others were brought to safety by Coast Guard personnel.
Two of the boaters were being treated for hypothermia and a third was reportedly in critical condition.
The personnel of the US Coast Guard Chicago, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and a local fire department continued to search for the missing boat driver on Saturday evening.
A Traverse City Coast Guard helicopter was called in to assist the search.
