Warm with afternoon showers, storms possible

Welcome to Juneteenth and Saturday, Motown.

Today is the last full day of spring and it remains warm, muggy, and potentially fickle with dangerous thunderstorms. The wet, stormy weather is easing tonight. Tomorrow it will be sunnier with less risk of storms, but the possibility remains. After a cold front on Monday likely brings rain, thunder and lightning with it, refreshing air returns with constant sunshine for much of the next week.

Saturday morning will be hazy and mild to warm. Temperatures start in the 60s and rise into the 70s before lunch. The sky will be partly cloudy. A few isolated showers can appear just before or around noon.

Sunrise is at 5:57 a.m.

The National Weather Service has a marginal risk of strong to severe storms with heavy downpours, frequent lightning strikes, and harmful wind and hail.

Saturday afternoon will be partly sunny, humid and very warm. Highs hit the deep 80s. Showers and thunderstorms are possible especially before 6:00 p.m.

It gets warm enough for travel to and from June memorials, events, and activities. The same applies to trips to the pool or the beach. However, remember to have a “Plan B” to duck into the house quickly when the sky darkens, or it rains, or the thunder crackles.

On Saturday evening there are early showers and thunderstorms. Then, just before dark, the wet weather shrinks and pulls away. Temperatures will be in the 70s.

Sunset is at 9:13 p.m. ET.

On Saturday night it will be partly cloudy and mild. Overnight lows will be in the low 60s.

Happy Father’s Day, Sunday! It’s getting sunnier. Showers and thunderstorms are less likely, but it remains very warm to hot and fairly humid. Highs will be in the mid and upper 80s. Occasional showers and thunderstorms are possible, especially after 2 p.m.

The astronomical summer begins with the summer solstice on Sunday at 11:31 pm.

Stormy, muddy weather becomes more likely on Monday. Highs will be in the lower 80s. The morning will be wetter than the afternoon as a cold front is approaching and sweeping through the region.
