Traverse City Bars See High Volume of Take-Out Orders for Super Bowl Sunday

The second best part of the Super Bowl may be the halftime show, but the third best is definitely the food and drinks.

The U and I Lounge in Traverse City is fully prepared for the rush.

“We will be cranking out lots of food today, that’s for sure,” said kitchen manager Michael Simpkin. “I know the Super Bowl is going to bring in a lot of people.”

They are expecting a full house tonight—on top of a high volume of take-out orders.

“I imagine we’ll be pretty full, but most of it will be take-out food and people throwing their Super Bowl parties,” said Simpkin.

Newer bars like Lil Bo, aren’t quite sure what to expect for tonight.

“It’s our first Super Bowl, but we have a lot of drink specials and food specials—we’re doing dollar touch-down shots, so every touch down, it’s a dollar shot going out for everyone,” said owner Jenni Scott.

With the drinks flowing and the food ready to eat, they’re prepared for anything.

“It sounds like it will be a pretty good crowd and then we have karaoke going on after the game, so we’re excited about that—so we’re hoping for a fun night tonight,” said Scott.

Right Brain Brewery has their own way of drawing in a crowd today.

“Super Bowl weekend at Right Brain, we have package specials—five dollars off all four packs, six packs and growlers through the weekend,” says owner Russell Springsteen.

They are happy to help people prepare for their Super Bowl watch parties at home.

“We try to do a package special every year because we know it’s really difficult for us to compete against a big sporting event, we’re not a sports bar,” said Springsteen.

Whether you’re a Bengals or a Rams fan, one thing is for sure—downtown Traverse City has you covered tonight.
