Ready for a week of spectacular climate?

DETROIT – There is no avoiding the bush: We had a tough week. Personally, I still don’t have electricity at home, but I’ve been able to minimize water damage in my basement by keeping everything important in plastic buckets and / or on shelves well above the floor.

The only valuable thing I had to get rid of was the ten by ten square foot carpet in my training area – there was no way I was going to get that thing dry until the mold took over the operation. I know some of you are far worse off than I am and I hope that your situation will be resolved soon.

We finally had a wonderful Friday with lots of sunshine in the sky, and the afternoon temperatures in the low 70s (21 to 22 degrees Celsius) felt good too!

Temperatures are going to be dropping fast tonight, but it’ll stay dry for our Friday night high school soccer games, as well as for Delectricity here in Midtown! The clouds will increase overnight, however, and showers will appear later in the night – maybe even with a rumble of thunder. The lowest point in the mid-50s (13 degrees Celsius), with southerly winds of 8 to 22 km / h.

The sunset is at 7:27 p.m. tonight and the sunrise on Saturday morning is 7:24 a.m.

Weekend forecast

The showers will end from west to east on Saturday morning, so our afternoon soccer games should be fine when the sun graces our skies as soon as the advancing cold front passes. And what an afternoon driving to the Motor Bella auto show in Pontiac! Heights should be in the mid to upper 60s (19 degrees Celsius), with a westerly wind behind the front, at 10 to 24 km / h.

Saturday night is dry for Delectricity too – if you’ve never been there it’s a really cool light art show projected onto our historic Midtown buildings. My wife and I have walked before in the past and it’s so cool to go from building to building and see this very creative art. Listen! Evening temperatures will drop into the 50s (13 degrees Celsius) as the evening progresses, on their way into the mid to upper 40s before dawn on Sunday.

On Sunday it is partly cloudy, a great day for Lions tailgating or in Comerica Park for the Tigers game (see you there!), With highs in the low 70s (21-22 degrees Celsius).

We have the chance of a few light showers on Sunday evening, with lows between the low to mid 50s (11 to 12 degrees Celsius).

You won’t believe that

The coming week will be absolutely fantastic as high pressure is building right over the Great Lakes region! As long as the rain showers end before sunrise on Sunday evening (which I think they will) we will have at least partially cloudy skies on Monday, followed by mostly sunny skies possibly until the end of next weekend! The highs for the whole week will average between the low to mid 70s (22 to 24 degrees Celsius).
