Michigan Technological University Research Space Opens in Traverse City

Michigan Technological University has officially arrived in Traverse City.

On Monday, a band breakthrough celebrated the opening of a new research room in the Traverse Connect Building.

This is Michigan Tech’s first job in the Northern Lower Peninsula.

It will support further research in areas such as renewable energy, aerospace communications, and manufacturing simulations.

“We have only been trying to get something in Traverse City for over 20 years. We’ve had some ups and downs; it just went together, ”said Jay Meldrum, director of the Keweenaw Research Center.

“This was an opportunity, frankly, with some space in our building downtown,” said Warren Call, President and CEO of Traverse Connect. “We saw it as an opportunity to invite Michigan Tech and it was exciting to see it.”

The new Michigan Tech Space is now open, with program announcements to follow in the near future.
