Metro Detroit climate: Frigid start to February
4 Warn Weather – It’s a frigid start to February with many areas waking up to single digit lows if not colder. We get exactly 10 hours of daylight today in which you can expect more sun than clouds.
Sunrise is at 7:47 am
Slightly warmer than yesterday, but still about ten degrees below average as highs top out in the low to mid 20s. Wind chill values will drop below zero again today. Cold, but not as frigid tonight as lows fall into the teens under partly cloudy skies. However, it will be brisk with a southwesterly breeze.
Sunset is at 5:47 pm
A mix of sun and clouds are in the forecast for Thursday with more seasonal highs around freezing. It will be a bit breezy ahead of an approaching arctic front. Additional light snow could develop Thursday night into Friday with the passage of that cold front and lake effect snow showers that will follow it, especially for our western zone.
Cold air surges back into the area on Friday. Highs on Friday will only top out in the single digits and low teens. Lows Friday night will fall to below zero in some areas, not even factoring in wind chills.
Tracking a nice rebound in temperatures by the end of the weekend into next week as highs climb into the upper 30s on Sunday and are forecasted to be on either side of 40 through the next work week.
