Lansing prisoner dies

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is investigating the death of a Lansing Correctional Facility inmate as a homicide. The Kansas Department of Corrections asked the KBI for an investigation after finding 62-year-old Gary Raburn dead in a cell on Jan. 6. That is standard procedure. However, agents determined someone had attacked and strangled Raburn.An independent autopsy will confirm the cause of his death.KBI agents say they have a suspect in mind, but have not filed charges yet.The DOC says Raburn had been in prison since March 14 , 2022, for violating the Kansas Offender Registration Act, which stems from previous convictions of aggravated kidnapping and a previous violation of the Kansas Offender Registration Act.
