Hyperion Coffee opens Ann Arbor location

ANN ARBOR, MI – Hyperion Coffee Co. is expanding – into the heart of Ann Arbor.

The coffee shop, based in Ypsilanti, will open a new location in Ann Arbor at 111 West Liberty St. on Monday, November 8th, with a grand opening on November 12th. It will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The expansion will help the cafe bring its full line of products to Ann Arbor residents, said Eric Mullins, Hyperion co-owner of Hyperion. Mullins said customers often head to its Ypsilanti location to purchase roasts and blends that are not available from their local wholesalers.

Beans available at the Ann Arbor site include Ethiopia Wush Wush, a “natural process” coffee, and a coffee from Costa Rica.

“(It’s) a little bit more expensive, but a little bit more unique,” said Mullins.

Although there are multiple locations that brew or sell Hyperion coffee – including Argus Farm Stop, The Last Word, and Weber’s Restaurant – this cafe will be Hyperion’s first “full-service” coffee bar in Ann Arbor.

“There was a lot of excitement,” said Mullins. “Everyone is really excited to have some really good coffee in Ann Arbor.”
