How the Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries are helping those less fortunate

(WXYZ) – On today’s 7 UpFront, we take a look at efforts to serve those in need in our community, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We will be welcomed by the President and CEO of Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries, Dr. Chad Audi, accompanied to talk about it.

You can watch the full interview in the video player above.

“We saw a different kind of population that we would have to serve,” says Audi. “It’s increasing. The services we would have to provide were a little different than before because we have to make sure there is social distance. So that we can continue to serve the same number of people we are.” Indeed, while we were serving, we had to open new websites. Many of the people we served at this point are not the normal people we have seen in the past. For example, we see people who used to go on taking care of their parents or grandparents and decided to leave them to make sure they were safe. We have had a lot of people who came in because of domestic violence, actually victims of domestic violence. So it’s not just the typical homeless or drug addict that we’ve seen earlier. “
